Kilshanvey Utd Host St. Conleth's CupKilshanvey United had the pleasure of hosting the second annual, St. Conleth's National School Blitz last Thursday morning. The event was organised by Mr. Shaw from St. Conleth's National School, Kilconly, and saw over 100 children from 6 local National Schools compete from 10am till 2pm.
There were Girls and Boys from Brownsgrove, Gardenfield, Sylane, Kilbannon, Tuam Educate Together, and Kilconly. They enjoyed lovely weather and the facilities in Fitz's Field were in immaculate condition. At the end of the day it was Gardenfield N.S that brough home both the Girl's and the Boy's trophies. Gardenfield beat Kilconly in the girls final and Gardenfield beat Brownsgrove in the boy's final. Huge thanks to all involved in a great day and we will see you next year! Kilshanvey 2-2 Knockacarra FC The girls played the second last league game of the season at home against Knockacarra in what was a highly entertaining game in the very warm sunshine. It was an end to end game with some very good attacks and some great last ditch defending by both teams. It was a fair result with four very well taken goals to finish the game at 2-2. The girls have they're final league game coming up next Sunday against Corrib Celtic but most importantly have a cup final to look forward to with the date to be confirmed. U14 Girls Division 1&2 Final Kilshanvey 0-1 Merlin Woods On Saturday afternoon our u14 girls headed to Eamon Deacy Park to take on city side Merlin Woods in the division 1&2 final. Our girls lost the first decision of the day and had to wear blue bibs due to a clash of jerseys. The game itself started cagey enough with neither team creating many chaces. The strong breeze assisting Merlin Woods in the first half played a big part in their goal. A shot from outside the box got caught up in the wind and there was nothing our keeper, Isabella, could do about it. About 10 minutes later a free kick from Meabh came back off the crossbar. Lauren was the quickest to react but her shot once again hit the woodwork with the ball bouncing off the base of the post. Our back four of Róise, Amy, Emma, and Molly dealt well with the long balls raining in on them. Tilly and Erin came on at half time to give some fresh legs. After half time the Kilshanvey girls upped their game. Niamh, Ali, Roisin and Saoirse kept pushing forward trying to get the goal needed to get back into the game. Sinead broke down any attacks created by Merlin Woods tirelessly. Naomi was eager and willing to get involved but it was decided not to risk her, as she was only returning from a hamstring injury. Despite a lot of continuous pressure Kilshanvey couldn't find their equaliser. It was a gallant effort from all the girls but sometimes it's just not your day. Next up is Colemanstown at home on Wednesday in a winner takes all game, with the league title up for grabs. U14 Boys Quarter Final Kilshavney 5-3 Oranmore In what was a huge effort by our u14 boys, they see themselves into a semi final. Our lads were down 2-0 at half time. They came out fighting and took the lead in the second half to make it 3-2. A late goal by opposition Oranmore/Maree called for a draw on the cards. Our lads didn’t settle and they pressed hard. Their pressure and drive was rewarded with two quick goals in extra time!! 90mins of madness and a huge result for our lads. Brilliant result from a depleted squad. We progress to a semi final tie against Mac Dara on the 29/5/24 Kilshanvey United want to thank John and Patricia Concannon for coming on board as our Club's Main Sponsors.
JFC Group has always been a great supporter of Kilshanvey United, this new relationship will see the club investing in facilities and equipment as our club keeps growing. Thank You! |
